- Find an exercise you enjoy. The way I see it, the more I enjoy a workout the more frequently I will do it! Click here for ideas
- Create a fun upbeat playlist! Songs that motivate and get your body moving.
- Workout with friends or family. Plan walk dates, mountain climbs, beach runs with close friends or a family member! Talking and walking can never go wrong, especially followed by a fresh juice and breakfast!
- Stretch! Before and after! Avoid sore legs, cramps or any uncomfortable feeling!
- Just start. No matter how hard or unfit you feel, you really just have to start. Those first few weeks of exercise can be uncomfortable, painful and really ‘not fun.’ But after 3-4 weeks our bodies will fall into a routine. It is only natural that if you run/walk the same distance 4-5 times a week, eventually it becomes a lot easier. So just start and power through!
- Stop Comparing your fitness levels or body with anyone else. You were not born with their body, nothing you can do can magically change your bone structure, you are not living their life! So stop wasting time and energy comparing. Focus on you and your goals!
- Goals. Realistic and achievable. Write down your end goal. What you want to achieve fitness wise. Make it clear in your mind. Now write down your weekly goals. What and when and how do you want to exercise. Give yourself breaks, days off, and remember that you will have days where you give up! They are normal! The secret is to keep going, focus on your goals and keeping moving forward.
- Take a water bottle with you. Change which arm holds it, taking small sips every 5 minutes!
- Focus on deep, even breathes. Really watch how fast or even your breathing becomes. Start to stop and breathe evenly. I personally found this made such a difference in terms of my fitness levels!
- Posture! No matter what exercise you are doing, your posture can dramatically affect the workout! Bad posture can cause pain, cramps, uneven breathing, back and neck problems as well as decreasing the effectiveness of a workout. Unsure of how to do a workout/run/walk google or youtube the correct way! It makes a huge difference!
