I believe exercise should be about giving to yourself and your body. I believe it is different for everyone… but for me it is all about enjoyment. I never have warmed to vigorous or painfully hard exercises. I believe the more you enjoy it the more frequently you will do it!
So here is a list of enjoyable exercise ideas:
- Walk/running with music. Preferably on a scenic route: ocean, forest, bush, park. Driving 5-10 minutes to a beautiful location could be rewarding!
- Swimming (ocean or pool)
- Room or backyard exercises
- Mountain climbing
- Stair climbs
- Classes: Zumba, Water Aerobics, Pilates etc
- Dancing
- If you have the equipment, watch your favourite television series whilst on the walker/treadmill
- Gym with friends
- Yoga
- Stand Up Paddle Boarding
- Surfing
- Cycling
- Skip Rope
- Rollerblading
- Gymnastics
And the list goes on and on! Why not create your own list, write down or research as many ideas as possible! Then try and tell yourself “exercise is boring!”
I find that mixing up my routine, changing times and location to be really effective in terms of maintaining motivation!
